After owning a pair of Oboz Bridger Mid Waterproof hiking boots for nearly four years, and using them in both the summer and winter, I decided that it was time to provide my feet with a bit more warmth during our winter activities, particularly while snowshoeing. And, I didn’t even think twice when I had purchased the Oboz Men’s Bridger 8″ Insulated Waterproof hiking boot based upon my previous experience with Oboz footwear.
COMFORT: My first trek in these new boots was a five-mile journey through Winter Park, where we had walked on both packed snow and pavement. And similar to the first time that I had placed my feet into my first pair of Bridger’s, these also fit perfectly and required no break-in period. If you read reviews for Oboz footwear, you will find that this is a commonality. Additionally, the sole of the boot has a winterized version of Granite Peak Outsole, which allows them to perform well in snow and icy conditions.
WATERPROOF: The upper body of the Oboz Men’s Bridger 8″ Insulated Waterproof boots are made with nuckbuck leather, using their B-Dry proprietary waterproofing system. This was recently put to the test on our most recent adventure, Jackson Hole: Winter Paradise. We had snowshoed almost fourteen miles over a period of two days, and my feet were kept completely dry.
INSULATION: The Oboz Men’s Bridger 8″ Insulated Waterproof hiking boots have 200 gram Thinsulate insulation, which provides exceptional warmth. On one of our snowshoe treks in Jackson Hole, we had started out when the temperature was around fifteen degrees, and by the time we had finished, the temps were near zero. My feet never got cold (I wore a medium-weight hiking sock). Plus, Oboz paired these boots with their O FIT thermal insole for added warmth. The Oboz O FIT Insoles, in my experience, are superior to those you that you find in most boots/shoes. There is no need to spend extra money on a replacement insole.
BOTTOM LINE: If you are looking for a comfortably, high-quality boot to keep your feet warm and dry in the winter, made by one of the best outdoor footwear companies in the industry, then I would consider trying the Oboz Men’s Bridger 8″ Insulated Waterproof hiking boots. Plus, they plant a tree for every pair of Oboz sold.
