On Wednesday, August 19th, 2020 we leave for our Wild West Summer Vacation! Below, you will find our itinerary. This journey will take us to a few of our favorite places along with an entirely new experience in Island Park/West Yellowstone. And when we return, we will share our adventure with a day-by-day review for each of our experiences.
8/19: leave for Rock Springs, Wyoming after work. Stay over night.
8/20: head out early in the morning to Garden City, Utah. Staying two nights in a cabin at Bear Lake/Marina Side KOA (we stayed there two years ago when Aspen had been with us. She swam and surfed the waves every day. Seeing how much fun she had was the highlight of the entire trip). Stand up paddleboard on Bear Lake all day; evening bike ride.
8/21: morning bike ride; kayak on Bear Lake all day.
8/22: head out early in the morning for Island Park, Idaho. Staying three nights at Sawtelle Mountain Resort. Visit Prismatic Springs in Yellowstone National Park, and the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana.
8/23: back to Yellowstone National Park to kayak around Yellowstone Lake.
8/24: stand up paddleboard around Henry’s Lake; hike to Mesa Falls in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest.
8/25: head out early in the morning for Redfish Lake in Stanley, Idaho. Staying two nights at Stanley High Country Inn. Stand up paddleboard around Stanley Lake.
8/26: morning bike ride around Redfish Lake; kayak around Redfish Lake.
8/27: head out early in the morning for Ketchum, Idaho. Bike 25-30 miles on the Wood River Trail. Afterward, drive north to Challis, Idaho.
8/28 – 8/29: relax with family in Challis.
8/30: leave for Rock Springs, Wyoming. Stay over night.
8/31: leave for Aurora, Colorado. Arrive home that evening and back to work on 9/1 after what is certain to be an epic Wild West Summer Vacation 2020.
