A Bull Elk relaxing near Milner Pass, RMNP

There is a short story behind this photo, we were headed into Rocky Mountain National Park to the Alpine Visitors Center. As we neared Milner Pass, there were an abundance of bull elk foraging. At minimum 5 large bull elk and a few juvenile elk as well. After seizing on this photographic moment we continued on to the Alpine Center. On our way back, nearing Lake Irene, we ran into another large bull elk, quite possibly one of the most majestic elk I have seen since living in Colorado. As we continued into the Kawuneeche Valley the herd was foraging on the hillside. Thus, on this day the Photo of the Week is aptly named, The Elk of RMNP.
